Bodley: Dick Allen Belongs in the Hall of Fame

Veteran sportswriter Hal Bodley has been covering Major League Baseball for 56 years. He was there when Dick Allen broke in with the Phillies in 1963 and calls his Rookie of the Year performance in 1964 one of the greatest he’s ever seen.

Hal agrees with us that Dick belongs in the Hall of Fame.

  1. Imagine being an eight year old boy at Connie Mack stadium and Richie Allen steps up to bat and takes that club of his that he called a bat and absolutely blows the ball out of the park. I don’t have to imagine. I saw it happen many times as a boy. He was, is and always be my favorite Phillie and childhood Hero. You better believe he belongs in Baseball’s Major League Hall of Fame. If there is anything I can do to help get him in please let me know.
